Websites That Will Help You Plan Your Sydney Holiday

Half the fun of travelling is in the planning right?  So along with SydneyExpert.com, the following sites will provide you with lots of really useful information to plan the perfect Sydney visit.

1. Sydney City Council

With everything from fun facts to public toilet maps and weather if you are spending any time in the centre of the city this site is worth a visit.

Explore – Discover the various areas that make up Sydney City and what to see and do in each place
What’s On – Sydney hosts a number of free events every week.  This listing is one of the most comprehensive around.
Historical Walking Tours – 13 self-guided walking tours and 3 audio tours – you can also pick these up around the city on arrival

2. Walking Coastal Sydney

If you plan on doing any of the great coastal walks I am always talking about then this website will be a handy addition to your bookmarks.  The site features downloadable maps and background notes for 11 long walk and some shorter “loop walks”  There is also an app you can download free from i-Tunes.

My favourite walk here is the Manly Lagoon to North Head and the Spit

3. Timeout

Just like the print version the Time Out website is great for finding what is happening in Sydney.  From pubs and clubs to museums and galleries, all the details you need to fill in your free time here. There is a tonne of interesting ideas here to help you fill in your itinerary.

4. Sydney.com

The Sydney tourism website

This is the official Sydney Tourism website.  The attraction directory here is quite good.  Along with listing lots of places you don’t come across everywhere else, there is an up to date event guides and several pages with specific guides for families with kids.

5. Urban Walks

Urban Walkabout

Urban Walkabout is a food and fashion lover’s guide to Sydney.  If you enjoy shopping and dining and want to uncover some of the more cutting edge and unusual establishments in inner Sydney you will enjoy Urban Walkabout.     The website offers printable maps of 13 different inner city areas that feature hand-picked recommendations for eating, drinking, sleeping and shopping.   There is also a great newsletter you can subscribe to for some pre-trip research.
