Best hotels in Sydney for Shopping Holidays

Today I have a list of my personal favourite hotels in Sydney for shopping holidays. These are so well located you can shop till you drop then pop home for a quick rest and start all over again.

Let’s go shopping!

Whether it’s a girly weekend, a mother-daughter trip or you just love to shop… If the main reason for visiting Sydney is to hit the shops then the location is paramount. You will probably want to be close to Pitt St Mall and it’s Westfield centre, home to the major department stores,  many of the big international designers and some good dining options.  This is no problem, there are quite a few good properties within a 5-minute walk that fit the bill.

Swissôtel Sydney

The Swissôtel Sydney wins first prize for location.  It is literally above Myer – Sydney’s largest department store and right on Pitt Street Mall.  The rooms are large and there are great kids rooms if you have to bring them with you.  If you fancy high tea or a champagne cocktail after shopping yourself silly there is a pleasant, if slightly expensive bar on level 8. For those who would prefer to work on their tans, there is a rooftop pool for some post-shopping R & R.

Check out their facebook page or follow SwissotelSyd on Twitter to learn more about what they offer.  They have tips like this one #Swissotel Syd gives out the @westfieldsyd Privilege Card to all guests checking in!

Grace Hotel Sydney

Grace Hotel

The Grace just might have the most comfortable beds in Sydney, perfect for getting a good nights sleep after wearing yourself out shopping all day.  The location is good, very central with only a few minutes’ walk from the shopping action of Pitt Street Mall. Five minutes walk in the opposite direction will get you to Darling Harbour/King St Wharf for dinner, drinks and people watching. There are also a small number of outlet stores at Harbourside shopping centre in Darling Harbour

The Grace offers free internet if you book online.  They sometimes have a shopping package that includes high tea, buffet breakfast, and a great room.

Rydges World Square

World Square Sydney

Rydges Hotel World Square

Just a 10 minutes’ walk to Pitt Street Mall. This hotel is a good choice if you would rather spend your $$$ on shopping than a luxury room.  There is also the World Square shopping centre directly underneath which has a small but reasonable collection of fashion stores and a Coles supermarket.

A 10-minute walk in the opposite direction will take you to Chinatown and Market City which is home to 3 floors of outlet shops and some great yum cha.

The rack rates at Rydges are over $500 but you can usually pick up a room for around $180.  The World Square shopping centre is downstairs and there is also a monorail stop here.
