Lockdown birthdays, anniversaries at home, even keeping the romance alive with a lockdown date night, celebration lockdown dining in Sydney is not as difficult as you might think.

Today we will take a look at some of the heat and eat style programs on offer so you can get a view of what’s available across a number of suppliers. We have pulled together the important details to make your search for the perfect meal quicker and easier.

Meal delivery in Sydney for celebration dining

While it may have been a novelty last year, we are all pretty much past zoom drinks now and want something a bit more special for a birthday at home.

If you’re happy to put in a little more effort, there are some really impressive packs you can have delivered that only require you to finish them off before serving.

If you are looking at getting something delivered ready to put straight on the table, it’s best to stick to restaurants in your local area.

In the main, we have stuck with services that deliver across Sydney rather than those localised and individual restaurants in the city and inner suburbs where residents will have no trouble finding numerous options.

Sydney restaurant meals at home – The best lockdown dining in Sydney

There are a few ways to arrange a celebration meal at home; you can have something delivered hot and ready to eat or order from a range of restaurant meal packs that you reheat, assemble or even cook at home.

Providoor, next-day delivery to most of NSW

The brainchild of chef Shane Delia, Providoor, which kept Melburnians well-fed in their long 2020 lockdown and has now arrived in NSW. These finish-at-home meals have been a huge hit down south.

Delivering meals from some of Sydney’s award-winning hatted restaurants, this service is the perfect lockdown celebration option. The dishes arrive chilled but not frozen, and you add the finishing touches when you heat them. This means you share the credit for the finished product!

On offer are menus from

  • The Apollo
  • Monopole
  • Cirrus
  • Ho Jiak
  • Yellow
  • CicciaBella
  • Rockpool at home
  • Cho Cho San
  • Lotus
  • XOPP
  • Icebergs and Lankan Filling Station coming soon!

As these meals are not frozen, they should be heated and cooked within 48 hours. While the most popular meals sell out days in advance, this is a good option for the less organised among us as next day delivery is possible!

If you are looking for a lockdown anniversary meal Providoor is our top pick!
