Adina Apartment Hotel Town Hall – Sophisticated Spaces in Sydney’s Heart

I spent two nights checking out one of the newly renovated Adina Town Hall’s one-bedroom premier apartments as their guest. While my stay was sponsored, as always, my opinions are my own. The 144-room property reopened in February 2025, and I wanted to see if it was worth recommending to Sydney Expert readers.

Arrival

We arrived at the hotel early on a chilly July morning, happy to escape the cold in the warm lobby. The staff were genuinely friendly, not just hotel polite, offering to store our bags and suggesting great coffee spots nearby to fill in time until our room was ready.

The lobby is gorgeous – there’s this stunning glass light feature I wanted to smuggle home in my suitcase and a beautiful curved lounge in earthy browns and greens. It’s the kind of space that makes you want to settle in with a coffee and watch the world go by.

The Apartment

My first glimpse of our one-bedroom premier apartment drew an involuntary “wow”. The layout flows from an entry hall with a generously sized bedroom to the right and a luxurious bathroom to the left.

The bedroom features a king-size bed, plenty of storage space and its own Smart TV. A small balcony offers fresh air and best of all, it’s blissfully quiet – perfect for a good nights sleep in the middle of the city.

The bathroom has this gorgeous mirror with Hollywood-style lighting – no tub, but the rainshower more than makes up for it with fantastic water pressure. The Australian-owned APPELLES amenities were a nice local touch.

The spacious bathroom had a rainhead shower and hidden laundry room

A practical laundry tucked discreetly into a cupboard in the corner of the bathroom proves these apartments are designed for both short and extended stays.

The living area is the standout feature. A curved sofa creates a welcoming space that flows to a round dining table perfectly positioned to take in the city views through the curved windows.

The 55 inch smart TV made streaming from your own devices easy with simple instructions. Once set up, this worked in the bedroom too.

While the kitchen is compact, it’s cleverly designed with everything you need, from induction cooking, Nespresso machine and Smeg appliances. The view through the windows of George Street’s light rail and city office buildings is a constant reminder you’re right in the heart of Sydney.

The mini bar showcased a thoughtfully curated selection of Australian brands. Young Henrys beer sat alongside local spirits and wines, while sweet treats included Darrell Lea chocolate and Natural Confectionery Company lollies.

It was very hard to resist the Darrell Lea Rocky Road

A nice touch was the option to order different types of milk – oat, skim or almond – delivered to your room at no extra charge.

A balcony accessible from both the living room and bedroom offers an outdoor connection and fresh air.

The apartments start from level 10 and come in various configurations including studio, one and two-bedroom options.

how about noise?

Despite our high-floor location, the notorious Sydney winter winds only made themselves known in the kitchen area during our stay. The glazing did an excellent job of blocking out city traffic – impressive given the central location.

The bedroom was particularly peaceful, without a peep of noise disturbing our sleep. It’s worth noting we visited during a particularly blustery few days, so the kitchen whistles may not be typical of everyone’s experience.

Modern Conveniences

The hotel’s online guest portal is impressive, offering everything from extra towels to board games and even groceries – perfect for longer stays.

The Wi-Fi proved consistently strong throughout our stay, handling simultaneous streaming in both rooms without a hitch.

While there’s no phone in the room, we didn’t miss it – staff make sure everyone knows how to use the digital system, even helping those who aren’t tech savvy.

Pool and Leisure Area

Despite the winter chill outside, the heated indoor pool area beckoned. Soft green tiles and textured beige columns create a calm, welcoming space that feels more day spa than city hotel. Natural light floods through the windows, dancing on the turquoise mosaic pool tiles, while plenty of greenery adds to the peaceful vibe. While I didn’t brave a swim myself, the comfy loungers provided a perfect spot to unwind.

The pool is partially under cover but still gets plenty of sun

The property also offers a small gym with quality equipment and a sauna, though I didn’t get a chance to try these during my brief stay.

A new Italian restaurant is set to open on the premises soon and will be a welcome addition.

Location

The Adina’s location is hard to beat for exploring Sydney. Public transport couldn’t be more convenient – there’s a light rail stop just a block away connecting you to Circular Quay and the city’s southeast, while Town Hall Station sits directly opposite, accessed through an arcade that keeps you dry in wet weather.

The hotel sits one block from George Street on Bathurst Street

During our stay, we took full advantage of the central location. A leisurely stroll through the laneways of Chinatown (about 8 minutes away) led us to lunch at Shabuways. We also walked to Hyde Park Barracks (15 minutes) to explore some colonial history, before ending our day with sunset drinks at Barangaroo – a perfect way to appreciate Sydney’s harbour views.

The basics are well covered too – there’s a choice of supermarkets within a couple of minutes’ walk, and you’re spoilt for choice with cafes and restaurants in every direction.

Final Thoughts

I am moving in! Seriously after my two-night stay, I can confidently recommend the Adina Town Hall to Sydney Expert readers. The recent renovation has created something special here – a genuine home-away-from-home that doesn’t sacrifice style for comfort. The location is unbeatable for exploring Sydney, whether you’re here for business, shopping or sightseeing.

I could easily imagine living in these serviced apartments!

While the room rates might seem premium (starting from $439), you’re getting a proper apartment rather than just a hotel room. The thoughtful touches – from the Australian minibar products to the easy-to-use digital services – show real consideration for guest needs. If you’re looking for a centrally located base with space to spread out, this could be your perfect Sydney stay.
