Who is Sydney Expert?

Well, there are actually two of us! My name is Paula. I am a born and bred Sydneysider that loves to show my city to visitors. I started this blog because I wanted to share things about Sydney that I was always typing up for family and friends from overseas. Friends joked that I was the “expert” and it stuck 🙂

Also part of the Sydney Expert team is my partner Charles.  Charles has been helping me share Sydney with visitors for more than a decade and he is also a bus driver. He knows his way around the city better than anyone I know.

These days along with scouring the internet looking for fun and interesting things to do and then making time to get out and do them we share the best finds here.

The articles on this site can help you:

  • Plan a great itinerary for your visit to Sydney no matter what your budget.
  • Find the perfect place to propose, celebrate an event or just have a picnic.
  • Hunt down elusive answers to questions you have about Sydney.
  • Master Sydney’s public transport system like a pro

Over the last 25 years, I have worked as a tour guide, travel writer, and for my first decade out of school as a librarian. I love researching things and sharing my findings with others. I have worked on projects such as itinerary planning, expat relocation, and guidebook research. In 2016 I finally published my first e-book Sydney – an interactive Choose a Way travel guide which is currently being updated. I also one of the volunteer managers of Sydney Greeter.

  1. Hi Paula,

I recently came across your blog and read this article on “How to celebrate New Years in Sydney “.

I must say your article is so exhaustive and clear. It’s gives such a nice overview of how to truly enjoy the New Years in this beautiful city. The vantage points, ferries and cruises etc.

You have so nicely explained each way to choose from along with the prices to enjoy the New Years that I just now booked a cruise for my family who are visiting me in December from India just to watch the fireworks.

A big thank you and keep up the good work 🙂

    • Thanks so much Neha. It’s great to hear the site has helped you. I will be posting more 2017 information as it is released but it is a good idea to grab cruise tickets early as the prices go up closer to the event. I hope you have a great night. Please let us know what the cruise was like next year 🙂
