Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park Father’s Day Seafood Brunch
The Sheraton’s Sunday Seafood Brunch is a proper all-you-can-eat spread, and it runs as usual on Father’s Day with a few extra additions. Good option if Dad likes seafood and you want to sit somewhere for three hours without watching the bill climb. Parking is complimentary.

Endless rounds of Sydney rock oysters, tiger prawns, crabs, smoked salmon, crab claws and Balmain bugs anchor the seafood side. There is a live grill station turning out chilli prawns, Cumberland sausages, Hereford beef striploin and BBQ Berkshire pork ribs, plus a duck pancake station. Slow-roasted wagyu beef bolar blade comes with Yorkshire pudding and horseradish cream, and there is a full dessert selection to finish.

The Charles
The Charles opens on Sunday just for Father’s Day. Enjoy an early lunch or refined dinner from a specially curated à la carte menu, with exclusive Father’s Day steak cuts available for one day only. Kids’ menu available for guests under 12.

Bennelong
Bennelong sits inside the Opera House sails, which makes it one of the more memorable rooms in Sydney to eat in. There are two ways to do it: the Main Dining Room for the three-course choice menu, or a seat at the brass Counter for à la carte if you want something less structured.

Executive Head Chef Rob Cockerill has added new dishes for the occasion, so guests will be among the first to try them. Coral trout with braised leek and bergamot emulsion, mud crab dumpling in brown butter with white flowering kale, and to finish, pistachio choux with greengage plum sherbet, sour cherry and dark chocolate. Open for both lunch and dinner, so you can pick whichever suits.

Aria
Aria has been the go-to for special occasion dining at Circular Quay for years, and Father’s Day is no exception. Executive Chef Tom Gorringe has put together a four-course set menu that starts with snacks on arrival, then moves to yellowfin tuna tartare with caper, padrón peppers and almond. The main is wagyu beef Wellington with chestnut mushrooms and heirloom spinach, and dessert brings chocolate, malt, caramel and hazelnut together.

If Dad would rather build his own meal, the à la carte menu runs alongside the set menu. Either way you get the view across the harbour to the Opera House, which is half the reason to book here.

Eleven Barrack
A seafood and steak grill tucked into the CBD, Eleven Barrack gives you three ways to handle Father’s Day dinner. The classic set menu opens with a shared spread of baguette, tuna, scallop and wagyu tartare, then grass-fed scotch fillet, and finishes with a choice of red velvet cake or prawn and pork bolognese mafaldine.

The premium menu steps things up with a larger shared starter, then coal-roasted Murray cod or a 450g bone-in sirloin, and poached rhubarb or red velvet cake to finish. Both set menus have minimum numbers, so worth checking when you book. The à la carte menu is there too if the table wants to go its own way. Note this one is dinner only.

Chophouse
Chophouse is a steak restaurant in the CBD working with Australian beef, much of it dry-aged on the bone. The à la carte menu runs as normal on Father’s Day alongside a few extras built for the occasion.

The headline special is an 800g Sher Wagyu F1 rib on the bone, MB6-7 and 400-day grain-fed, at $250. It is a big cut and meant for sharing around the table. Every dad dining on the day also gets a complimentary wagyu slider, a pair of limited-edition Chophouse socks to take home, and a complimentary tasting of Maker’s Mark Star Hill Farm whisky.

Rovollo
Rovollo is on Martin Place, and it is set menu only on Father’s Day, so this is one to book if you know the whole table is happy to eat the same way. Seats are limited and bookings are essential.

The four courses are served sharing style. It opens with homemade focaccia and house-made infused butter, eggplant caponata with white bean purée, and San Daniele prosciutto with melon and wild rocket. Then spicy vodka rigatini with Grana Padano and Calabrese chilli. The main event is a Riverine MB2+ grain-fed Angus x Hereford ribeye from southern NSW, 300 to 350g per head, with red wine jus and a grilled corn rib with brown butter and Pecorino Romano. Dessert is Rovollo’s tiramisu with zabaione and hazelnuts.

Flaminia
Flaminia at Circular Quay offers harbour views, and the Father’s Day menu is a four-course family-style spread designed to be shared around the table rather than plated individually. It runs as a long lunch, so plan on being there a while.

The menu opens with Merimbula rock oysters and a share-style antipasti of calamari fritti, Fremantle octopus salad and buffalo ricotta with heirloom zucchini. Next is house-made ravioli filled with Mooloolaba prawns and lemon zest in a light seafood bisque. The main is slow-braised ossobuco di vitello with Parmesan polenta and gremolata, and it finishes with fritelle di carnevale and a Torta Setteveli chocolate cake to share.

Osteria Luna
Osteria Luna is a dim-lit underground Italian room on King Street, tucked beneath The Charles in a 1938 art deco building. Velvet curtains, blue leather booths and low light, with a small performance stage and vinyl DJs later in the night. It leans more late-night supper club than family lunch spot, so worth thinking about who is coming.

Doors open from 11:30am through to late on Father’s Day, with the full à la carte menu running all day and a complimentary beer for every dad on arrival. Expect bistecca alla Fiorentina, cavatelli with clams aglio e olio, and rigatoni with lamb ragu and goat’s curd. The bar is set up for a Martini, Manhattan or Rusty Nail if Dad would rather start with something stronger. Sunday service charge applies.

Ashe
On the corner of Angel Place and Ash Street, Ashe seats 80 and puts a clay oven and grill at the centre of the kitchen. Executive chef Khanh Nguyen brings together Vietnamese, Thai and Malaysian flavours, and the fire-led cooking is what the room is built around.
It is a good option if Dad likes bold food and you want somewhere in the CBD that is not another steakhouse.

Watermans
Watermans is running a Mediterranean menu for Father’s Day across both lunch and dinner. Grilled octopus and yoghurt-marinated BBQ chicken anchor the menu, and it finishes with a wood-fired Seville orange cake.

There are add-ons if you want to stretch it out, including wood-fired scallop and lamb kofta. For a table that wants a centrepiece, a 650g Riverine rib eye is available as a supplement to share around.

Bessie’s
Bessie’s is a share-style Mediterranean restaurant on Albion Street where almost everything comes off the fire. The room is loud and casual, built for tables that want to order a lot and pass it around rather than sit down to three neat courses. Regular menu covers garlicky flatbread, buffalo curd, empanadas, charred mushrooms and a fried-fish dish that has developed a following.

For Father’s Day there are three specials, all built for sharing. A 600g Westholme sirloin on the bone (MBS 4-5) for $150, an 800g Westholme rib eye (MBS 4-5) for $240, and a BBQ whole flounder with roast tomato, nduja and espelette butter for $52. There is a pescetarian version of the flounder without the nduja, also $52. Alma’s and Bar Copains are both a short walk if the afternoon keeps going.

Bar Copains
Bar Copains is a small wine bar on Albion Street, the kind of place you book for four rather than fourteen. The list leans towards small producers and natural wines, with some older Australian names like Tyrrell’s mixed in. Better suited to a dad who wants a long afternoon over good bottles than a family lunch with kids in tow.

The Father’s Day special is a braised 500g Riverine short rib (MBS2) with Paris mash and buttered chard for $76. The regular menu runs alongside it, including a bacon and comte custard tart, pig’s head fritti with sauce gribiche, raw diced tuna with mushroom soy dressing and rye crackers, and a King George whiting sandwich.

Vin-Cenzo’s
Vin-Cenzo’s is Italian at its core with some French and Spanish influence, and the menu is produce-driven and made to share. A recent redesign brought a warmer fit-out, more seating and an alfresco area, so there is room to spread out if the weather holds.

Two Father’s Day specials are running. Porchetta with salsa verde, mostarda, shaved fennel, apple and mint for $52, and hand-cut tagliatelle with wild boar ragu and rosemary for $36. The regular menu sits alongside them, with rigatoni con la pajata (tripe, sweetbreads, tomato, mint and ricotta), house-made pork belly sausage with lentils and quince mustard, and a pig fat cannolo with ricotta and Sicilian almonds.

Father’s Day in the East
Three Blue Ducks, Rosebery
Three Blue Ducks in Rosebery gives you a few ways to handle the day. There is the regular Sunday Roast, steak specials cooked over fire, or an optional three-course Father’s Day feast if you want something set.

The feast starts with a tap beer for Dad on arrival, then shared entrees of warm sourdough with chicken skin butter, wood-roast bone marrow, and fire-roasted eggplant with the Ducks’ harissa and dukkah. The main is a 600g O’Connor Premium ribeye with beer mustard and smoked tallow jus, served with crispy potatoes in confit garlic butter, three-cheese cauliflower cheese and a green salad. Dessert is Guinness sticky toffee pudding with vanilla bean ice cream.
If the set menu is not for you, the Sunday Roast and steak specials are both available on the day, so a table can go different ways.

Besa
Besa is a Spanish tapas bar in Bondi, built around the late-night bar culture you’d find in Madrid. Small plates, plenty of noise, and a room that suits a group who want to graze and drink rather than sit down to a formal three courses. Good if Dad would rather be somewhere with a bit of energy than a quiet dining room.

For Father’s Day the kitchen is putting up a hero dish: fideuà negra, squid ink egg noodles with grilled chicken. The rest of the tapas menu runs as normal alongside it.

Chiswick, Woollahra
Chiswick sits in a garden setting in Woollahra, which makes it an easy pick for a long lunch that turns into a long afternoon. The seasonal à la carte menu runs as usual with two specials added for the day only.

House-made wagyu bresaola with pickled vegetables is $26, followed by a 300g grain-fed scotch fillet with Café de Paris butter and crisp fries at $75. You can add the specials when you book or order them on the day, subject to availability.

North Bondi Fish
North Bondi Fish is right on the beach at the north end, so you get the Bondi view with lunch or dinner. The regular à la carte menu of seafood and seasonal dishes runs on the day, with a Father’s Day Market List of extras alongside it.

The market list covers oysters at $7.50 each, garfish tacos at $12 each, a lobster sandwich at $22, whole flathead with yuzu at $56, lobster frites at $75, and dark chocolate mousse at $14. You can build a big meal or just add a couple of things to the table.

Father’s Day in the Inner West
The Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre and Lucky Prawn
The Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre is a brewery, an eighties pub tribute and a country-town Chinese-Australian bistro all in the one Marrickville building. There is a pool room stacked with Bob Hawke memorabilia, a beer garden built around a big shade tree, and a giant golden prawn presiding over the kitchen. The food comes from Lucky Prawn, which does eighties suburban Chinese without apology. It is loud, casual and works for a big group.

Every father figure gets a free Hawke’s beer on the day. Lucky Prawn is running limited-edition BBQ specials alongside the regular menu: half BBQ duck at $45, 500g char siu pork at $37, and a BBQ mixed plate at $80. The duck and the mixed plate are both pre-order, with limited quantities on the day, so order ahead if you want them.
There is also a Father’s Day Merch Pack for $55, pre-order only, waiting at the table when you arrive. It includes a six-pack of Hawke’s Lager, a Lucky Prawn cap and a Hawke’s tinnie cooler.

Regina La Pizzeria
Regina La Pizzeria in Wunderlich Lane is shouting Dad a pizza. Order any pizza off the menu on Father’s Day and Dad gets a complimentary contemporary pizza on the house. Easy option if you want to feed a family without committing to a set menu price per head.

The menu spans three pizza styles. Contemporary pizzas run from a straightforward Margherita to the Versace with king prawns, fior di latte, candied tomatoes, bottarga, confit garlic, capers and chilli oil. For a bigger feed there are pan-baked padellino pizzas, including the Mastroianni with stracciatella, fior di latte, zucchini flowers, olive crumble and Parma prosciutto, and the twice-cooked Bellucci with stracciatella, mortadella and macadamia rocket pesto. Antipasti and hand-made pasta to share as well, plus a Chocolate Padellino with chocolate chips, vanilla mascarpone, mixed berries and hazelnuts for dessert.
Sittings are tight, so book ahead if you want a particular time.

Father’s Day Dining in the South and Shire
Benetti’s
Benetti’s is the Italian room at The Brighton, a relaxed bayside spot with water views and space for a big family table. Open from midday through to 8pm on Father’s Day, set menu only, so everyone at the table eats the same way.

The three-course menu is built to share. It starts with garlic pizzetta, fried calamari and prawns with black garlic aioli, and vitello tonnato with tuna sauce and caperberries. Mains bring saffron radiatori with slow-cooked beef cheek ragu, pecorino and gremolata, pan-fried barramundi with charred asparagus, baby capers and lemon thyme butter sauce, and Portoro scotch fillet (MBS 4+) with mushroom sauce and aromatic butter, plus a rocket, pear and parmesan salad. Dessert is chocolate lava with strawberry coulis, vanilla gelato and pistachio praline.
There is a kids’ version too: garlic pizzetta, then a choice of spaghetti bolognese, kids pizza with ham and cheese, or chicken schnitzel with shoestring fries, finishing with vanilla ice cream with caramel or chocolate topping and marshmallow.

Ammos is on the water at Brighton Le Sands and does Greek cooking built for sharing, which suits Father’s Day if you have a big group. The set menu runs at lunch only, with a live souvla station turning through service, so there is something to watch while you eat. Dinner switches to à la carte bookings.

The lunch menu opens with saganaki cheese, thyme honey and figs, then moves through duck leg boureki with kalamata olives and sour cherry, before lamb straight off the spit with garlic, lemon and thyme. Bay views throughout.

Poetica Bar & Grill
Poetica is a bar and grill in North Sydney built around an open fire, so there is charcoal in the air and dry-aged beef on the grill. Oysters, cocktails and a room that suits settling in for a few hours rather than eating and running.

The Bridgeview Hotel
The Bridgeview is Willoughby’s heritage-listed local, a family-friendly pub with a dining room and a public bar that welcomes dogs.
