Sydney’s New Year’s Eve party scene offers something for every celebration style, from rooftop bars with harbour views to dance floors that keep going until dawn. What sets these venues apart from the free public areas isn’t just the guaranteed entry – it’s the complete experience they offer.

Most party venues include food, drink packages, and entertainment in the ticket price. You’ll avoid the crowds, the long waits for transport home, and uncertainty about finding a spot to watch the fireworks.

Please note the 2026 parties information and prices are added when they are announced. We have left last years offerings in place for you to get an idea of what to expect.

I’ve grouped these parties by what matters to most visitors: prime fireworks viewing spots come first, followed by those where the focus is on dancing and entertainment.

New Year’s Eve parties with views of fireworks

These venues combine a party atmosphere with views of Sydney’s fireworks. Prices typically range from around $300 to over $1,000, but you’re paying for guaranteed views, entertainment, and whether food and drinks are included.

Let’s start with those in the centre of the action.

House of Splendor at the Opera House

Hosted in the Yallamundi Room, House of Splendor presents an Old Hollywood-inspired celebration.

What’s included:

• Premium food stations and roaming canapés
• Free-flowing drinks
• Live entertainment with top DJs and roaming performers

Opera Bar: Under the Southern Sky

Opera Bar’s New Year’s Eve event for 2026 is called Under the Southern Sky, a standing event beneath the Sydney Opera House sails built around Australian food and produce from Opera Bar and Winnie’s. It’s a standing event with limited unreserved seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Your ticket includes a welcome drink, roaming canapés and food stalls through the night, live bands, DJs and roaming performers, and front row views of both the 9pm and midnight fireworks. Extra drinks are available to buy on the night. Dress code is smart casual to cocktail attire, and enclosed shoes are required (no thongs, flip flops or beachwear, though formal sandals, platform heels and open toe espadrilles are fine).

Tickets go on sale Wednesday 16 September 2026 at 8.30am AEST, with a limit of 10 tickets per person per transaction. This is the only ticket release planned for the event.

You have views of the Harbour Bridge, and the Opera House looks impressive from this angle.

Sydney Opera House Western Boardwalk

Last year hosted by Doltone Hospitality Group, this black-tie gala offers front-row seats to both the 9pm and midnight fireworks displays. The event runs from 6:30pm to 1:00am on 31 December.

What’s included:

• Four-course meal prepared by a renowned culinary team
• All-inclusive premium drinks are provided throughout the night.
• Live entertainment
• A dance floor at the harbour’s edge
• Front-row fireworks viewing position

Event details:

• Dress code: black tie; smart casual chic is acceptable.
• Ages 18+ due to alcohol service.
• Wheelchair accessible with companion seating options available
• Last-minute tickets are unlikely due to high demand

Cruise Bar & Melba’s Rooftop

Cruise Bar’s New Year’s Eve event runs across Cruise Bar itself and Melba’s Rooftop above it, both at the Overseas Passenger Terminal on Circular Quay, with front row fireworks views over the harbour.

General Admission is $199pp and covers two levels of the main venue: Level 1 plays big anthems and singalong classics, Level 2 plays R&B and 2000s nostalgia. It includes roaming canapés, a couple of food stations and late-night bites, with a pay-as-you-go bar.

The Premium Experience on Melba’s Rooftop is $499pp and includes a 3 hour drinks package from 6pm to 9pm with Veuve Clicquot Champagne, wine, beer and mixed spirits, plus roaming canapés, a carving station, a seafood station and a gelato bar. Cocktails and spirits outside the included package are cash bar. Both tiers are 18+.

The Oriana

The Oriana (previously Squires Landing) features 270-degree views of Circular Quay, the Harbour Bridge, and Sydney Opera House from its waterfront location. This adults-only event (18+) provides one of the best vantage points for the NYE fireworks.

The event runs across three areas of its Circular Quay venue, each with its own price and style.

Ground Floor and Level 1 is a standing event with general admission at $899pp, covering roaming canapés, a beverage package from 6pm to 9pm, and access to the Beer Garden, the Pub, and the Harbour View and Bridge View decks.

A Tower Room VIP ticket at $999pp adds exclusive access to the private Tower Room and a glass of champagne for the midnight toast, on top of the same food, drinks and deck access.

Level 2, The Restaurant, is a seated six course dinner from 8pm with matched drinks, a glass of champagne on arrival and another at midnight. The Main Dining Experience is $1,099pp, and a Restaurant Tower or Sky Tower table is $1,299pp.

There’s also an Early New Year’s Eve Seating at $299pp, a three course meal from 5pm to 7pm for those heading into the city afterwards. This early seating doesn’t include the later NYE event or fireworks viewing, and bookings are two hour seatings between 5pm and 6.15pm.

Level 3, the Moët Room, is $999pp and includes a glass of Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut on arrival, three hours of flowing champagne and canapés from 6pm to 9pm, a seafood and crudo bar, and a Moët & Chandon toast at midnight. Tickets are limited.

NYE at MCA Rooftop

The MCA’s Rooftop Party takes place on Level 6, the Harbourside Room, with panoramic views of Sydney Harbour, the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, and uninterrupted sightlines to the fireworks.

It’s a cocktail-style event with gourmet food stations, roaming canapés, and premium wine, beer and soft drinks, with live musicians and DJs through the night. It’s an 18+ event, and early booking is recommended given limited capacity.

The Glenmore Hotel

The Glenmore’s New Year’s Eve event takes over its rooftop with front row views of both the 9pm and midnight fireworks. Your ticket includes a 4 hour premium beverage package, roaming canapés and grazing tables, live music and DJ sets, a silent disco, tarot card readings, a vintage-style photobooth, and a glass of bubbles on arrival and again at midnight.

It’s a strictly ticketed, 18+ event with valid ID required at entry. Tickets are limited to one per transaction so each guest’s name and email is captured, and purchases are non-refundable. Ticketholders get a wristband on arrival and can come and go freely while wearing it.

The venue is a 7 minute walk from Circular Quay station and ferry terminal, or a 10 minute walk from Wynyard station.

Pier One Sydney Harbour

My verdict: Pier One is great for locals, and it’s well priced for what you get. Just know what you’re paying for. You’re right in the thick of the action, close enough to feel the crowd energy and the noise of the fireworks overhead, but you’re looking at the western side of the harbour and the rear of the Bridge, not the Opera House. If the iconic postcard shot with both landmarks in frame is what you’re after, this isn’t it. If you want proximity and atmosphere over that classic view, it’s a good pick.

What to expect: The main ticketed event is the NYE Pier Party, a waterfront celebration beneath the Harbour Bridge with a four hour premium beverage package, six-plus food stations and two headline DJ acts (Bag Raiders and Set Mo). First release sold out; general release tickets are $650pp. For a step up, NYE Waterside Lounges offer reserved VIP booth seating for seven, either covered or open air, right on the water’s edge overlooking Walsh Bay, though allocation is very limited and pricing isn’t published.

For dining, PIER restaurant runs two seatings: an early seating from 6pm to 9pm at $349pp with a set menu and all-inclusive drinks, finishing with a Champagne granita before guests step onto the pontoon for the 9pm fireworks, and a late seating from 9.30pm to 12.30am at $699pp with front row midnight fireworks views and access to the Pier Party.

Hotel guests have two more options: private suites for up to 10 guests with balcony fireworks views (minimum two night stay), and the Harbour Bridge Lounge, a hotel-guests-only marquee with a four hour drinks package and canapés at $499pp, also requiring a two night minimum stay.

The view factor: Pier One sits directly over the water at Walsh Bay, right beneath the Harbour Bridge.

Parties on the north side of the harbour

If you’re willing to cross to the north side of Sydney Harbour, you’ll find some excellent NYE options that are sometimes overlooked by tourists. These venues offer a different perspective on the fireworks – you’re looking back toward the city and Opera House rather than out to the harbour. The trade-off is usually fewer crowds, easier transport access if you live on the north shore, and often better value for money. The fireworks view is still spectacular, just from a different angle.

View Sydney NYE Soirée

View Sydney’s New Year’s Eve party takes place on Deck 17, its outdoor terrace overlooking Sydney Harbour, with a street food theme, free flowing drinks and DJ sets. It’s an all-inclusive, stand-up party with some tables and seating available, though limited. The terrace is under a fully covered marquee, so the event runs regardless of weather.

General Admission includes street food from around the world, house drinks (local and international beers, red and white wine, sparkling, Prosecco, soft drinks and juice), and a cocktail list with Aperol Spritz, gin and tonic, NYE sangria and frozen margaritas. It’s an 18+ event and sold out in 2025, so early booking is recommended. Most dietary requirements can be catered for if you let staff know in advance.

There’s also a separate, family-friendly dining option inside LB’s Restaurant, with ticket availability still to come.

Luna Park NYE Harbour Party

If you want rides, DJs and a fireworks view in one ticket, this is the pick. You get unlimited rides all night, entry to Coney Island and two stages of DJs, with the fireworks going off over the Harbour Bridge right in front of you.

General admission gets you into the park and the stages, but not a reserved viewing area, so expect to jostle for a spot at midnight.

VIP tickets add guaranteed access to a fireworks viewing area, and the Premium VIP tier adds a food and drink package and an exclusive venue for the night.

Last year sold out, and some 2026 ticket releases went in presale, so do not sit on this one.

• General Admission starts from $305 and includes unlimited rides, access to Coney Island, both DJ stages, and harbour views of the fireworks.
• VIP Packages start from $399 and cover the Ivory, Pink, Purple and Burgundy ticket tiers. They include everything in General Admission, plus guaranteed access to a fireworks viewing area.
• Premium VIP Packages start from $535 and cover the Diamond, Gold, Silver and Sapphire ticket tiers. They include everything in VIP, plus a food and beverage package and exclusive venue access for the whole night.

Felons Manly

Felons will host a New Year’s Eve event with a sunset feast, icy beers, DJs playing inside and on the jetty, and a 9pm fireworks display over Manly Cove.

Event details: Starts at 6pm; 9pm fireworks over Manly Cove. Walk‑ins can order à la carte on the jetty.

Cost: $149 per person.

Taronga Zoo

A fantastic choice for families, Taronga is well known for its fabulous harbour views. Money raised from these events is used to fund the zoo, so you are also helping a great cause.

The view from the zoo may seem like a distant one but it’s expansive and you get to see the big picture from here. The Diamond Reserve comes with a fancy food basket, some drinks, entertainment, and harbour views. The Gold tickets don’t include any catering but it can be purchased separately. Silver tickets on the concert lawn offer limited views and do not include a hamper.

New Year’s Eve at Taronga Zoo’s Event Centre

Ring in the New Year above Sydney Harbour at Taronga Zoo’s Event Centre, with three ticketed experiences to choose from depending on your budget and how close to the action you want to be.

• The Opal package on the Gili Rooftop is the top tier, 18+ only, with unlimited Archie Rose spirits and cocktails, champagne, wines and beers, gourmet grazing stations, roving canapés and desserts, live entertainment, DJ sets, and access to the outdoor terrace.
• The Emerald package on N’Galawa Terrace is also 18+, with unlimited premium sparkling wine, wines and beers, gourmet grazing stations, roving canapés, desserts, and live entertainment and DJ sets.
• The Platinum package in the Dalang Ballroom is open to all ages 5 and up, with a complimentary Limoncello Spritz on arrival, roving canapés, a gourmet food station, late night treats, live entertainment and a dance floor, with a bar available for drinks you buy separately.

All three include front row views of the Sydney Harbour fireworks.

Bottom Line: The zoo is a perfect site, and limited numbers mean you won’t feel too crowded.

Darling Harbour Parties

Zephyr Sky Bar

Zephyr Sky Bar’s New Year’s Eve event runs for 4.5 hours with front row views of the Darling Harbour fireworks from above the city. Your ticket covers a premium beverage package (sparkling, wine, beer and soft drinks), roaming canapés and grazing stations including antipasti, charcuterie and cheese boards, live DJ and entertainment, and a selection of dessert morsels as midnight approaches. It’s an 18+ event, and Zephyr practices responsible service of alcohol.

Tickets are released in three price waves, so the price you pay depends on when you book. Full payment is required at purchase and tickets are non-refundable, including no-shows.

NYE in the East and Inner Sydney

Head east for a beachside take on NYE. Bondi brings big festival energy, while inner‑city spots around Bondi, Paddington and Darlinghurst have smaller parties with food and music. Early evening is generally relaxed; later it tends to get busier. Transport can be busy but it’s generally much easier to get home than from the Circular Quay hub.

East Village Rooftop NYE

East Village Hotel’s NYE Rooftop Party runs from 7pm and offers sweeping city views rather than harbour or fireworks views, since the venue is in Darlinghurst. It’s a standing event with limited seating.

From 7pm to 10pm, your ticket includes a glass of Piper-Heidsieck champagne on arrival, roaming canapés, bottomless beer, wine and spirits, and live DJ entertainment. From 10pm until close, DJ entertainment continues but drinks move to a pay-as-you-go bar as you count down to midnight together.

A large-scale dance festival across two stages on Bondi Beach, run by Fuzzy in partnership with the Barcelona-based elrow brand. This is the first time NYE celebrations have returned to Bondi Beach in over a decade. The main stage is built around a pirate shipwreck theme, with a second stage called the Pink Cathedral offering an inflatable, glitter-filled dance space. Alongside the ticketed party, Waverley Council is running a free, all-ages family zone called Locals Lawn at the southern end of Bondi Beach Park, with food trucks, roaming performers and its own fireworks viewing, open to registered local postcodes only.

Pricing hasn’t been released for 2026. Sales run in stages: a ballot for 2025 ticketholders opened 17 September, a Locals Presale for registered Waverley postcodes opens 30 September at 10am, a general presale opens the same day at 12pm, and general public sales open 1 October at 12pm.
