Mother’s Day High Tea Sydney 2026: Our Picks
If you’re still working out how to celebrate, a high tea is worth considering. It sits in the middle of the day, so it doesn’t lock everyone into an early start or a late finish. It runs for a fixed time, usually 90 minutes to two hours, which makes it easier to plan around naps, school sport or long drives home. And unlike a restaurant lunch, there’s no choosing from a menu, no waiting between courses, and no awkward moment where everyone argues over what to share.
Mother’s Day falls on Sunday 10 May 2026.
There’s also something in the format that genuinely suits the occasion. You sit, you talk, you eat at your own pace. The food arrives in stages and there’s always something on the stand to reach for. For a family with different tastes, or a group that includes both grandmothers and grandchildren, it covers a lot of ground without anyone feeling left out.
Sydney has a strong high tea offering for Mother’s Day 2026, from harbour-view rooms in the city to a gin-themed rooftop and a heritage ballroom with live opera. Below is what’s confirmed and bookable now.

Booking Tips
Mother’s Day is one of the busiest days of the year for high tea in Sydney. A few things worth knowing before you book:
- Most venues require advance notice for dietary requirements — 24 hours is standard, but some ask for more. Check the fine print when you book, not on the day.
- Sittings are timed. Most high teas run for 90 minutes to two hours. Arrive on time, particularly if there’s a sitting after yours.
- Weekend surcharges may apply to drinks or additional orders beyond the set menu. Ask when you book if your group is likely to order extras.
- Children’s menus are not available at every venue. The listings above note where they are confirmed. If you’re bringing children to a venue not listed with a children’s option, call ahead.
- Several of these events run on Saturday 9 May as well as Sunday 10 May. If Sunday is difficult, check whether the Saturday sitting works for you.
