Sydney Christmas Markets 2024 edition

Sydney may not have the centuries-old Christmas market traditions of Europe, but we’re quickly catching up. Each year more markets seem to appear and they start as early as October which allows you to get an early start on your Christmas shopping.

This guide covers the best Christmas markets in Sydney, from the CBD to the suburbs and even a few worth the drive in regional NSW. In a hurry, skip to the bottom where we have listed the markets in date order.

We’ll update this list as more information becomes available, so check back if you don’t see your favorite market yet.

Good Food Market at Carriageworks

The Carriageworks Christmas Market this year will feature 80+ stalls which will include NSW growers, farmers and artisans, everything you need for a festive feast. With fruit and veg, seasonal produce, meats, seafood, cheeses, preserves, confectionery, baked goodies and festive tipples.

Martin Place Christmas Market

In its second year, the Martin Place Christmas Market will bring 40 of Cambridge market’s best operators to the city centre to help you squeeze your Christmas shopping into your lunchtime or commute. This market is perfect when you are entertaining friends after a busy day at work.

This mixed market offers a range of goods, including fashion, homewares, candles, festive products and plenty more. You can pick up puddings, gingerbread and Xmas decorations and wreaths.

The Rocks Christmas Markets

If you are not quite feeling the Christmas love, a visit to the Rocks Christmas Markets is bound to change that.

The markets feature elves on stilts, light-up angels, live music and DJs and, of course, delicious holiday-themed, gourmet street food. All up over 70 stalls for your Xmas shopping (and eating) needs!

When: Dates TBC – usually Saturday & Sunday from 10am-5pm

The Finders Keepers Summer Market

The Finders Keepers Summer Market is a fab spot to do your Christmas shopping, while technically not a Christmas Market. This market events are a celebration of creativity, and slow-made and conscious shopping from local makers and designers, featuring everything from ceramics to art, fashion to food.

When: 15 November 2024, 4pm – 9pm | 16-17 November 10am – 5pm
Where: Carriageworks
Tickets: $6 daily entry. Kids under 13 are free.

Markers and Shakers Early Christmas Market

Get a head start on your holiday shopping at the Makers and Shakers Early Christmas Market! This festive event brings together talented artisans and creators offering a wide range of handmade products, from unique gifts and homewares to delicious food and drink.

Whether you’re looking for one-of-a-kind Christmas presents or simply want to enjoy a day of browsing and sampling, this market is the perfect place to find something special. Support local makers and discover beautifully crafted items that are sure to delight everyone on your list.

Christmas at the Cathedral

The Christmas at the Cathedral has been a hit since day one, but last year they introduced a market stalls and it really added to the event, so this year they are back. Stalls with delicious food and drinks, Christmas goodies, and loads of entertainment for the little ones. Rain or shine, this outdoor event in the Cathedral’s forecourt on College St will run for 12 consecutive nights.

Le Jolly Market

Le Jolly Market will bring the magic of a French Christmas market to Sydney’s Customs House. You can immerse yourself in the French-European Christmas vibes while you shop, wine & dine in front of Customs House.

Authentic wood huts, lights and candles, snow falling, jazz music, and all the necessary magic to experience a white Christmas.

Market stalls will offer everything from Christmas snow globes to children’s toys and gifts for mum and dad.

Pop in on the way home from work for some Christmas eats with family and friends. Each night at 8 pm, in front of the giant Christmas tree, listen to classic Christmas jazz music (with some tunes in French), sing or dance under the snow falling and perhaps steal a kiss under the mistletoe that will mark the entry gates!

Just, let us not forget the mistletoe! Each entry arch of the event will be covered with mistletoe- kiss and share the Christmas cheer.

The Tramsheds is offering two Christmas Market days this year. This is the perfect spot to pick up some excellent gifts for your loved ones, with a collection of handcrafted goods and crafts from vendors that have been carefully chosen.

Mosman Twilight Christmas Market

Christmas shopping, an evening stroll, and dinner at the food stalls are all perfectly good reasons for visiting Mosman this December.

A quality art and craft market is located in the heart of one of Sydney‘s finest shopping precincts, the Mosman market will feature over 130 art and craft stalls, with gourmet food, ambient music and a lively atmosphere.

When: 12 December 2024, 4.30pm-9pm

Ryde Christmas Market

This excellent market features 70 stalls offering fresh produce, hot food, homewares and a range of gifts. This is a brand new Christmas market never before held in this space. We are excited to bring Christmas cheer to this booming area right by the Parramatta River. We’ll have gifting, food, Christmas paraphernalia, fashion, homewares, alfresco eating and, of course, plenty of cheer.

Pick up fresh, local fruit, vegetables and olive oil, or a new addition to your wardrobe at the market’s range of fashion and jewellery stalls.

The Ultimate Christmas Market EQ

Annual Lindesay Christmas Gift Fair

The annual Lindesay Christmas Gift Fair – a fundraiser for the National Trust (NSW) – offers a fun day out in glorious harbour surroundings.

Hosted at Lindesay, an elegant 1834 harbourside villa and featured film locations, the market offers a wide range of special Christmas gifts from one of a kind stalls set up throughout the house and the gardens.

Everything from beautiful linens, jewellery, clothing and gourmet foods is on offer. You can also enjoy lunch or tea in the gardens.

When: Thursday 14 – Saturday 15 November 2024, 10am-4pm
Where: Entry via Lindsay Avenue, Darling Point only. A free shuttle will leave from Edgecliff Station Bus Interchange regularly from 9:30am – 4pm. (no service from 12-1pm)

The Cannery Christmas Market

Christmas Markets in the Inner West & Western Sydney

The Pittwater Christmas Market

This Northern Beaches market is always a favourite on the northside for its beautiful coastal atmosphere and local stallholders who bring a bit of beachside magic to the market. Stop by for a great day by the water with soulful shopping, eating and music.

Woodstock Artisans Market

Make your way to Woodstock Community Centre for the final Woodstock Market of the year. If you are looking for Australian made gifts, this is a must-visit market. The goods here are original and high quality.

Just a 10-minute walk from Burwood Station, the event will host over 70 high-quality stalls perfect for unique gifts and ticking off that Xmas wish list a little quicker. At the same time, you know your dollars are going directly to the creators.

Casula Powerhouse Christmas Market

The Culture Up Late Makers Market returns this year bigger and better, with work from local artists and craftspeople and taking over the entire Turbine Hall and weather permitting out into the grounds.

Concord Rotary Christmas Market

Concord Rotary Markets turns into a giant Chrissy Market on the 18th of December, so head down and grab all the special Christmas treats. Handmade, local and slow, is the way to go.

Make a day out of it and head to Camden Market’s Special Christmas event. With 70 stalls drawn from the MacArthur region, make this the year you shop local and support small business.

Mounties Christmas Market

Get the family in the Christmas spirit with this fun family night out. Plenty of food, live music, gifts and crafts will give you a chance to do some last minute Christmas shopping too!

Christmas Markets in the Southern Suburbs and Shire

The Cronulla Christmas Market

More than 150 stallholders will gather on the beachfront at Cronulla for a brilliant day of shopping, eating and community spirit. Come along to support our local small businesses.

Cambridge Shire Christmas market
This is a fun day for the whole family with plenty of entertainment and activities.

This two-day beachside market is one of the biggest events on the market calendar each year. People come from far and wide to enjoy the beautiful coastal atmosphere, shop for all their Christmas gifting and enjoy a day out beside the beach. Always a big one.

Como Public School Christmas Market

A good old fashioned school fair is the perfect place to pick up some Christmas treats. There will also be a sausage sizzle.

Carss Park Multicultural Christmas Market

One of the loveliest spots in the St George area to spend a spring evening, head to Carss Park and enjoy live music, fun rides for the kids and plenty of food trucks. This Foodies and Farmers Markets Friday evening market is the perfect spot to pick up gourmet food and farm fresh produce for your Christmas entertaining.

The December market will be a multicultural Christmas Market.

Central Coast Christmas Market
